Four ways to support your immune system

Your immune system is the first port of call to stave off infection and disease. Keeping it in good condition all year round is important to maintain and support your health.

What is your immune system?

Your immune system is a network of cells, nodes, tissues, and organs that work together to help fend off disease and infection. When your bodies specialised receptor, cells detect a virus or bacteria it responds in two stages (the innate and adaptive immune response).

The innate response is the initial stage when your body rapidly starts upon infection and helps to contain the spread and reproduction of the virus. The adaptive response occurs after this and targets more specifically the virus that is affecting your body.

Influenza or Corona virus, why are some of us more susceptible to infections than others?

Some individuals are better able to develop an effective immune response and kill viruses, bacteria and pathogens that invade the body.

Others who have a ‘weak’ immune response are less able to fight infections, making them more susceptible to illness.

There are a few approaches to supporting your immune system. A well-balanced diet and correct supplementation for your cells can optimally help support your immune system.

Four key ways to support your immune system:

  1. Hydration

Support your immune system by staying hydrated, hydration helps your body naturally eliminate toxins and other bacteria that may cause illness. Ensure you consume minerals alongside water to enhance hydration at the cellular level. Cellnutrition Isotonic ampoules provide the full spectrum of 78 minerals and trace elements that cells require, enabling complete hydration at the cellular level.

The unique concentration of minerals and trace elements in Isotonic works in harmony with your body and is slowly absorbed by your cells, aiding cellular repair. This supports all aspects of cell functioning and has shown to have a modulating effect on the main immunological biomarkers, supporting your immune system.

  1. Nitric Oxide

Nitric oxide is released by the inner layer of cells of blood vessels, increasing blood flow. As we age, there is a reduction in the production of nitric oxide, contributing to hypertension and inflammation in blood vessels. If you have healthy blood flow to every tissue in your body, this supports your immune system, providing a strong defence against invading pathogens.

If your body is unable to produce sufficient nitric oxide, it will not be able to defend itself as well from infections such as influenza or Corona Virus.

Certain foods such as beetroot, garlic, meat, dark chocolate, and green leafy vegetables will aid the production of nitric oxide.

  1. Vitamin C

Vitamin C, (also known as ascorbic acid) is an antioxidant vitamin.  Antioxidants support the body as they help to fight damaging free radicles. Vitamin C is highly concentrated in your immune cells and can be quickly depleted when your body is trying to fight off infections.

Studies suggest that Vitamin C will not prevent the risk of developing illnesses, but it can aid recovery by reducing the length of time of illness.

Fruit and vegetables, such as kiwis, peppers, broccoli, and citrus fruit are good sources of Vitamin C. Vitamin C also helps the body absorb other nutrients such as non-haem iron by binding to it and helping it travel to the intestines. When Vitamin C binds to non-haem iron it increases the stability and solubility of it, enabling the body to absorb iron more readily through the mucus membranes of the intestine.

4. Nasal Hygiene

Cellnutrition nasal Spray has numerous benefits designed to support nasal hygiene and immunity, fighting infections. It promotes a mechanical flushing action, stopping blockages and the spread of germs, as well as hydrating the mucous membranes.

Nasal hygiene strengthens the mucous respiratory defence mechanisms, improves tear duct drainage, reducing allergies and helps to prevent colds and flus. Not only that, but it is also recommended to treat active and chronic infections in the nose.
